Crash and kitchen fire attended by West Sussex firefighters

FIREFIGHTERS have attended several incidents in the Observer area yesterday and today (Wednesday, March 6).

At 9.49am yesterday, crews from Bognor and Chichester were called to Nyton Road, Westergate, where a car had overturned.

Firefighters stabilised the car and released the woman driving, assisted by paramedics.

Crews were at the scene until 10.05am.

At 4.41pm yesterday, a crew from Chichester was called to a chimney fire in Victoria Road, Chichester.

Firefighters used a thermal-imaging camera to locate hot areas and they were damped down using a low-pressure hose reel.

They were at the scene for around 50 minutes.

At 6.51pm, firefighters from Chichester were called to the smell of burning at a block of flats in Bognor Road, Chichester.

There was a small fire in a third-floor flat involving cooking.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a ventilation fan. They were at the scene for around 25 minutes.

At 8.32pm, firefighters from Midhurst were called to a chimney fire in Elsted Road, Elsted.

The fire involved a wood burning stove and firefighters were at the scene for around 40 minutes.
