Community links are being forged

A SOCIAL network is proving a hit with residents across Bognor Regis.

Streetlife, the local social network, has come to the town recently and it is already getting people talking.

Resident Wendy Felstead, 49, has been helping to organise a coffee morning for a group of friends who met through Streetlife.

She said: “I’ve only been in the area for 18 months and I’ve learned so much by making friends with people on Streetlife.

“It has that safe feeling. You find out all sorts of things that are going on and I log on and off all the time.”

Users sign up with an email address and postcode and are connected to all other users within their local area. The idea is it gives users a way to share practical advice and information within their local community.

“The display of community spirit we’ve seen has been fantastic” said Nina Whittaker, Streetlife’s head of communities.

“It’s obvious that there’s a real desire among many neighbours in Bognor Regis to help one another and we’re delighted to provide an outlet for that.”

Conversations on the site so far have seen awareness raised about missing cats and the word spread about doorstep scammers.
