THE BISHOP of Chichester launched a bid yesterday (April 25) to reach out to others.
Martin Warner told the Diocesan Synod it was the responsibility of every Christian community to reach in an often ‘hostile’ and ‘cynical’ culture.
The Bishop was launching a diocesan strategy for Sussex. He told bishops, clergy and laity gathered at the Sír Robert Woodward Academy, in Lancing, that ‘we must emerge from the bunkers in which we feel safe to communicate and engage with those who have not heard the Christian message’.
Parishes were told to identify one project that could make a difference in their communities. Dr Warner said he hoped every parish in each deanery would sign up and say ‘that’s our witness’, building up confidence as a church.
