Charity jog is a successful first

SOME 50 people took part in the first community event on a Felpham park’s path.

The turnout for the 5K charity jog delighted the organisers, Felpham resident Karen Holman and her friend, Susie De Las Casas, of Angmering.

Calling themselves The Crazy Ladies, they staged the event to support their fundraising for their planned 1,000-mile cross-Britain cycle ride from Land’s End from May 21.

They are raising funds and awareness for Myeloma UK and the Alzheimer’s Society.

Karen, 46, said: “It was a real family and community afternoon and brought everyone together with lots of fun.

“The sun shone, and we raised £333 for our two charities.”

The perimeter path around King George V playing field had never seen such an occasion since it was installed nine years ago.

People of all ages and abilities took part. About 12 competitive joggers completed the four circuits in just over 20 minutes.

Others went at their own pace. Most walked, mums with pushchairs and dads with babies on their backs. All were given a goody bag.
