Challenge to finish a mile for a charity

A MILE challenge is being held in Felpham this weekend.

Muscular Dystrophy Campaign volunteer Athina Willis has joined with Inspire Felpham Leisure Centre to host a day of family fun.

From 10am-4pm on Sunday, she is challenging people to complete a mile in different ways in order to help the 100 familes in West Sussex living with the muscle-wasting and life-limiting condition.

She is offering outdoor and indoor obstacle courses, alongside other fun games and activities, a tombola, craft stalls and a raffle.

Athina, 25, who lives in the area, said: “I am delighted to be organising this event in order to raise awareness and support for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

“There is not yet a cure for muscular dystrophy, but scientists are developing treatments. We need to make sure funding is available to help them continue.”

Activities on the day will be suitable for all.

Paul Tomlinson, the campaign’s volunteer fundraising manager, said: “We are grateful to Athina for using her event management skills and hosting a fun day for local people to enjoy and to help support our vital work.”
