Bracklesham sea search for 'missing surfer': in pictures

The Selsey lifeboat crew searched for a potential missing surfer yesterday (July 7).

According to the RNLI, their all-weather lifeboat was called out by the coastguard to Hayling RNLI lifeboat and Selsey's coastguard team search an area off Brackelsham Bay where a kite or sail was seen in the water with no one with it. The lifeboat launched at1.59pm and arrived on scene at 2.07pm. An attempt to recover it was made, but it appeared to be stuck on something beneath the surface. The team searched the shoreline for any sign of its owner from the eastern end of Brackelsham to East Wittering. The coastguard decided with no one reported missing and the kite or sail not recoverable that the search would be called off. The lifeboat returned to Selsey at 3.35pm.
