Nine parking spaces in the centre of Bognor Regis today (June 19) went under the auctioneer’s hammer for £11,000.
The spaces at 1-9 Lennox Street, which went for double the guide price, were among 24 lots across Sussex and Surrey being sold by regional land and property auctioneers Clive Emson.
Sam Kinloch, senior auction valuer, said: “There was keen interest from bidders, with the gavel coming down on a final bid of £11,000.”
Arranged in three blocks, with access from Lennox Street, one of the spaces has been sub-let on a long lease for a term of 120 years from March 1993.
Sam said: “The remaining eight spaces are subject to restrictions on sub-letting and therefore may be suitable for private use. Alternatively, permission could be sought to remove the current restriction, subject to all necessary consents being obtainable.”
A block of flats in Bognor Regis, with a former amusement arcade on the ground floor, sold leasehold. The property, at 6-8 Waterloo Square, went for £123,000, which was £33,000 more than the lower range of the guide price.
Sam said: “All nine flats have been sold on long leases and the former amusement arcade is believed to have permitted use as a retail premises for the sale of traditional seaside goods.”
Starting at 11am, the next auction takes place at the Hilton Brighton Metropole, Brighton, on Friday, July 24.
Clive Emson’s auctioneers are regulars on BBC One’s Homes Under the Hammer series.
