Bicycle thefts from town

A DESCRIPTION of a suspected bike thief has been released by police.

Police officers were told the Carrera bike was taken from the Highfield Gardens area at around 7pm on October 16.

The bike was white and had an attachment on its front for a child seat.

Police officers said they have been given a brief description of a man seen making-off with it.

He has been described as white with facial hair, no other details have been given.

Three days before, officers were told a push bike was taken from outside the Morrisons store in Bedford Street.

The theft took place at around 4.20pm and the bike has been described as a silver and blue Cube model. It also had ‘cross country’ written on its frame.

Police advice to cyclists is to always secure their bikes, preferably with a good quality lock, even if they are only leaving them for a few minutes.

Anyone with any information about the missing bikes should call Sussex Police on 101.
