ART students are brushing up on their talents at Bognor Regis classes.
A touch of autumn was in the air at the latest You CAN Paint session hosted by David Shannon.
The activity is such a success David expects to launch it in Chichester next year. The 12 participants in the session began by painting a portrait of leaves in their seasonal colours.
Among those taking part were Helen Bowles and Shirley Baker.
Bognor resident Helen, in her 60s, said: “My grandfather was an artist and I wanted to follow in his footsteps.
“Painting makes you focus on what is around here. You become very observant and notice colours and shapes.”
Retired Shirley, of Felpham, said: “Creating something is very relaxing. David points out how to achieve different techniques.”
Town centre resident David started the classes last year and holds them most weeks on different days so as many people as possible can attend.
“I show a picture and the students follow it as best as they can.
“It works well and we get two paintings in two hours. We’ve had some amazing results,” he said.
The classes are held from 2pm-4pm at the Jeneses Arts Centre, in Linden Road. Each costs £5 with materials provided.
