ARUNDEL deputy mayor and town crier Angela Standing opened the town’s refurbished The Co-operative on Friday.

The store, in Queen Street, Arundel, recently had a £360,000 refit.

Manager Nick Witham said: “Angela did a fantastic job of opening the store for us. We are very pleased with the outcome of the refit and positive customer feedback.”

Three community pioneers have been appointed, Teresa Flexer, Hayley Horne and Christopher Petroulas, and they are now in the process of selecting three local worthwhile groups or charities to support.

The team said: “We have made our choices, just waiting for final confirmation, but we are always open to suggestions and ideas. These will be very local to Arundel and frequently used by everyone in the community.

“We will endeavour to raise funds and attend events where possible in order to support these groups. We hope that everyone will contribute and help towards supporting the chosen groups.”

The store is currently running a competition to win a hamper packed with goodies from The Co-operative’s finest Truly Irresistible range.

To enter the competition, like and share the Arundel Co-op Community Facebook page. The winner of the hamper will be drawn at random on Saturday.
