Approval given for residents of an Aldwick home to move into hotel

DELIGHTED residents of an Aldwick home are looking forward to moving into new premises

The physically disabled inhabitants of Ashley House will be leaving its outdated surroundings to transfer their lives to the nearby Russell Hotel.

Planning approval for the change of use of the hotel to a care home was granted by councillors after a tense debate in spite of objections from the supporter supporters.

The decision allows Ashley House’s operator, the Livability charity, to begin the arrangements for the move away from the Aldwick Road premises.

Spokesman Fabienne Jacquet said: “Livability expects to complete the purchase during April.
“It will then first convert the parts of the Russell Hotel building which will be used as accommodation for its residents.

“It estimates the whole re-development programme will take about 34 weeks with the construction element being about half that time.”
