42 new Covid-19 cases in Arun as infections increase slightly

The number of cases of Covid-19 in Arun has risen slightly as the UK continues its emergence out of lockdown.

On Monday (April 12), the nation took its latest step away from strict social restrictions with the reopening of non-essential shops, pubs and hairdressers.

While the impact of more social mixing will take time to reveal itself in figures, Arun’s Covid stats are still a far cry from the huge numbers seen just a few months ago.

In the week ending April 10, Arun recorded 42 new cases of Covid-19

That figure is four fewer than the week before.

Our district’s rate of infection is 26 cases per 100,000 people – compared to the national average of 19.

A total of 8,210 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Arun since the pandemic began at the beginning of last year.

Sadly, 355 people have now died within 28 days of a positive test.

Up to April 8, 90,983 doses of the vaccine have been administered in Arun.
