Staff at Lotus Styling have sharpened their scissors and are poised to welcome back regulars at 7.45am on Monday, April 12.

Clients eager to have their hair done for the first time in three months have inundated the popular Aldwick Road hairdressers looking for appointments as the easing of lockdown restrictions approaches.

And Daren, who has run the salon with wife and business partner Kate for more than 30 years, says he expects to see lots of lopped locks given how long clientele have gone without having their tresses trimmed.

The shop has even had a countdown clock in the window as the hours tick down to opening, with the slogan ‘Get ready to be gorgeous’.

He said: “We’re readying ourselves to open for business once more and we couldn’t be more delighted to be honest.

“We’ve been bombarded with bookings from our clients who are obviously desperate to let us loose on their hair after three months of growth.

“The phone has been ringing constantly and the bookings we have already mean we know we are in for a very busy time of it.

“But that’s fine. We can’t wait to get back at it and do what we love doing best.”

Kate says a recent recruitment drive has seen the business welcome new stylist Carly Knight to the salon and that this will help with the increased workload.

She added: “The lockdown has been frustrating but ultimately worth it given the much healthier position we find ourselves in as a nation coping with Covid.

“We are fully compliant with all the necessary safety measures in place and are raring to go.

“We will get around to fitting everyone in and will be working extra hours to ensure all of customers get their wish and have one of our talented team do their hair.”

Client Laura Kottaun will be one of the first to sit in the chair come Monday and can’t wait to get the Lotus Styling treatment.

Laura, who has been been visiting the salon since she was aged eight, said: “I’ve been going to Lotus for more than 24 years so I only trust them with my hair. After three months or so my hair is so insanely wayward.

“I can’t wait to have my usual cut and colour, it’s so exciting.”
