It was good to see apprenticeships in action the workplace

Friday, March 8, was the last day of Apprenticeship Week and I spent the day meeting local apprentices around Chichester. The day started with the RSPCA, at Mount Noddy animal rehoming centre where I met a group of apprentices at different stages of their apprenticeship and studying for many levels of qualification.

This is a critical time for parliament

We are reaching quite a critical time in Parliament as a date, 11th December, has been set for the meaningful vote on Brexit which will determine our future relationship with our European neighbours.

Lessons can be learnt with Velo South event

The unpredictable British weather returned on the weekend impacting events throughout the district. The Priory Park 100 Anniversary week kicked off on a rather soggy Saturday, fortunately many events were undercover, but whilst attendance was undoubtedly dampened, people’s spirits remained high.


Rolling out Universal Credit in our area

Last week we had a visit from Guy Opperman a minister from the Department of Work and Pensions, who came to meet the staff at Chichester’s Jobcentre Plus; to listen to their experiences and ensure that staff and claimants are getting the support they need as we begin to roll out Universal Credit (UC) locally.


Alternative education routes for students

For students across Chichester, and thousands of nervous parents, today marks the end of a long, anxious wait for GCSE results.

Last week it was the turn of A-levels, and I was delighted to hear that for many of our local schools it was their best year of results so far.
