A MARATHON kickboxing session in Worthing has raised hundreds of pounds for a young boy who is losing his battle with leukaemia.
Six-year old Luke Cory, of Alberta Road, Worthing, has been told no more can be done to help him – giving him just months to live.
To make his remaining months enjoyable, friends, family, and members of the public, have organised a number of fund-raising events to help pay for outings.
100 roundsNick Brewer, co-owner of Gym Extreme in Bath Place, took part in 100 rounds of sparring with kickboxing instructor Steve Robinson to raise money for Luke.
More than 70 spectators, including Luke and his family, watched the event on Saturday, November 14, at the gym, helping to raise between £450 and £500.
Nick, 40, said: "We were knackered but I would probably do it again.
"It was good fun and at the end of the day it was something different and it was for a good cause."
Luke's fightLuke was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in February last year and underwent chemotherapy.
However, the disease came back leading to a bone marrow transplant in January.
The family was given a reprieve until the disease returned in July, with doctors finally admitting they could do no more because the disease was too aggressive.
Music nightLuke's aunt Lorraine Cory has organised a music night in aid of Luke which will take place at Worthing Rugby Club on Sunday, November 22.
