A DOG which went missing while its owner was on holiday has been found safe and well.
Two weeks ago, the Herald featured the story about Barney, the miniature Yorkshire Terrier, who had gone missing while his owner, Amy Roberts, 35, of Heene Road, was on holiday with her family on the Greek Island of Zante.
Barney had been staying with Amy's sister, Andrea Roberts, of Castle Road, Tarring, but managed to escape from the back garden after just two days.
Andrea and her family decided not to tell Amy that Barney was missing and frantically searched for him, putting missing posters up.
FoundLuckily, last Tuesday, he was found safe and unharmed on the west Worthing railway line, close to the Jacob's Ladder bridge in Tarring.
Amy said: "I had no idea he was missing as Andrea didn't tell me.
"She knew I would have been on the first plane back had I known.
"I had phoned her while I was away and was told she was out, but she was in the garden and didn't want to speak to me as Barney was missing.
"She was so relieved when he was found. She told me what had happened when I got back and we both got very upset thinking what could have happened to him.
"I absolutely adore him and I am so thankful to people out there for looking for him. Andrea did everything possible."
Nine livesAmy added: "He must be like a cat and have nine lives. He seems fine after his ordeal.
"Andrea said she had lots of calls from people to say they had been looking for him and couldn't sleep until he was found."
Andrea received a telephone call last Tuesday to say he had been spotted and she and her partner dashed out to find him.
Andrea said: "I was so delighted when we found him. We ran down the track to get him.
"He was fine, with just some grass in his coat.
"The woman who spotted him thought he was a rabbit, but then saw the missing posters."
