Heather said: “I am delighted to have this exciting solo show, presenting contemporary oil paintings, drawings and prints, along with my first and the Oxmarket’s first, ice sculpture, originally showcased back in August with the contemporary art group ARTEL.

“Initially inspired by a programme on the Arctic by David Attenborough, and after making a drawing of a life-sized adult polar bear and creating the ice sculpture, I became captivated by the beauty of ice the landscape and moved by the plight of endangered species, in particular the polar bear. At the exhibition you will see detailed drawings of ice set against crystal clear blue areas of colour, along with glaciers, polar bears and reindeer. There are original drawings and fine art prints in the browser.

“The ice-bear is entitled Sumikpok which in Inuit means Tries to Cry, and it takes approximately four and a half hours to completely melt away, affording a poignant and relevant message. I am endeavouring to display an ice bear for everyday during the show as it is proving very popular with both adults and children alike.

“I am sure that working as a graphic designer, within what used to be called Environment and Development at West Sussex County Council for 12 years, has nurtured appreciation and consideration for our environment and the planet. After leaving this post, I established myself as an artist and have been both short-listed and accepted into the National Open Art Competition as well as winning the Stride Cup at the Oxmarket. I have also become a short course tutor at the Spring in Havant and at West Dean College ,and I am making inroads to the London market for selling my art.”
