The premiere of Disney’s The Lone Ranger was as exciting as any I’ve attended in the last five years.

It was a beautiful, sunny day and the fans had turned out in their thousands to greet Johnny Depp and the stars of the film. The venue was the largest of the cinemas in Leicester Square, London, the standard place for premieres.

This time the red carpet had transformed to a white carpet complete with black markings to resemble a cow hide. The paparazzi lined up beside the camera crews ready to interview the stars. The BBC and Sky were all in attendance.

The Lone Ranger himself, Armie Hammer, came dressed to impress wearing a bright red suit and accompanied by his celebrity girlfriend. However the day belonged to Johnny Depp who plays Tonto in the film. He arrived to massive screams from his adoring fans and demonstrated his usual cool, laidback style. Naturally the obligatory walk to greet the fans lasted a good hour as his bodyguard tried in vain to move him along.

The event was hosted by Alex Zane, who interviewed all the celebrities. At one point he introduced a stuntman dressed as the Lone Ranger who rode a beautiful white horse up and down the carpet before rearing up several times much like the character in the film.

I took to the carpet and filmed my walk. This has to be one of the most thrilling experiences because you really get a taste of what it is like to be a celebrity.

Once inside I briefly bumped into Johnny before being directed to my seat. The stars walked onto the stage and Johnny spoke to introduce the film and make the standard comments of gratitude.

I got a high five as he left the building on his way to the next premiere in another country.

The film was quite long at over two hours. However, it was great fun and the chemistry between the leads was wonderful. Go see!
