It’s year two of the ten-year Qatar sponsorship of the summer festival and that week is sure to be the high point. But there’s plenty to look forward to before and after.

* A pair of tickets to all three days of the August Bank Holiday Festival

As reported last week, it’s year two of the ten-year Qatar sponsorship of the summer festival and that week is sure to be the high point. But there’s plenty to look forward to before and after.

Here’s a quick guide to what lies ahead as Goodwood plan for another 19 days of top-class racing:

Saturday, April 30 – Opening Saturday

The 2016 season gets under way with an artisan food festival, featuring a farmers’ market and produce from Goodwood’s own organic farm. Enjoy great racing and discover some regional delights.

Thursday, May 19, to Saturday 21 – May Festival

With superb racing across three days, the May Festival acts as a precursor to the Qatar Goodwood Festival. Exciting young horses are brought to the South Downs for three Listed races and fantastic supporting cards. Watch out for a few Derby and Oaks hopefuls.

Friday, June 3, Friday 10 and Friday 17 – Three Friday Nights

These hugely-popular evening race meetings feature music from globally-acclaimed DJs once the action on track is over. The Parade Ring is transformed into a laser-lit dance floor and electrifying beats fill the air.

Sunday, June 5 – Family Raceday

Explore the jockeys’ weighing room, take a walk of the course, meet a racehorse, ride a finish on a mechanical horse, visit the race start and have fun on the fairground rides. Oh, and enjoy some great racing too.

Tuesday, July 26 to Saturday 30 – Qatar Goodwood Festival

The sporting and social highlight of the summer season, the Qatar Goodwood Festival is Goodwood in all its glory - it’s simply Glorious. The best horses and jockeys descend on the Downs to compete for around £4.9m in prize money. Enjoy great food and drink, wear your finest outfits and soak up the garden party atmosphere.

Friday, August 26 to Sunday, August 28 – August Bank Holiday

Relive the nostalgic summer holidays of yesteryear with this fun race weekend. There’s a dramatic fireworks display set to music on the Friday night and a funfair throughout the weekend. There’s also highly-competitive Group racing on Saturday and Sunday.

Tuesday, August 30 and Wednesday, September 21 – Midweek Racing

With autumnal views across the Sussex countryside as a stunning backdrop, enjoy great racing in a laidback atmosphere. These balmy afternoons are an ideal escape during the working week, offering a chance socialise in beautiful surroundings.

Sunday, October 9 – Season Finale

The Goodwood season comes to a close with the Season Finale, a fantastic afternoon of racing that celebrates the highlights of the year. The leading trainer at the course will be crowned and there is a race confined to jump jockeys.
