Super six fly flag for Chichester at Euros

Chichester Westgate Triathlon Club have six members off to Holland to compete in the 2009 European Triathlon Championships this weekend.

Despite being less than a year old, the club are one of the best-represented in the event.

Club chairman Adrian Campbell said: "We're delighted to have so many qualifiers and to have had such a great year so far.

"We're confident all the guys will do well in Holland and are hugely grateful to our sponsor Natures Way Foods, without whom we would not be attending."

The six are Jason Davis, 27, Tom Wilson, 27, Mary Campbell, 34, Fay Cripps, 31, Dan Bailey, 17, and James Woodward, 34.

Davis is a personal trainer at Westgate who is busy gaining qualifications in areas like sports therapy, massage and British triathlon level two coaching. He was a prime mover behind the Chichester club's founding and is a GB squad member.

Wilson, from Cobnor, grew up on a diet of swimming and secured a GB spot in his first triathlon.

Campbell is a GP who did the London marathon in 3hr 30min and took up the sport 18 months ago.

Cripps, a school teacher, won the 2007 Chichester triathlon and qualified for the GB age group team.

Bailey had never competed in triathlon until the club was formed but has already been invited to his first elite junior race.

Woodward is also in the GB squad and also works at the Westgate as a personal trainer and is also a qualified sports therapist.
