Basement boys Pagham knew something special was needed to overcome near neighbours Bognor and Dissangge provided that in their seven-wicket home win.

Despite the victory, Pagham still trail third-bottom Lindfield and safety by 49 points but this success will have given everyone at the club a major boost.

Skipper Stuart Hanks won the toss and chose to stick rivals Bognor in.

Opener and opposition captain Mikey Harris led the way for his side before falling 17 short of his century.

Harris failed to find many partners, though, with just three other batters other than himself able to reach double figures.

Rob Willway (30), Joe Ashmore (23) and Sam Adams (16) were those to get past ten as Bognor were all out for 182 in 50 overs.

Dissangge and Thomas Kent both chipped in with three wickets, while Joe Metz took two as Pagham went into their batting response.

Things got off to a woeful start as openers Hanks (two) and Albert Burgess (nought) fell in quick succession to leave Pagham in all sorts of trouble at 2-2.

A third-wicket stand of 48 between Kevin Condon (35) and Ryan Barratt helped steady the ship before the former fell to leave the home side 50-3.

Once Condon went, Dissangge came to the crease and took Bognor’s bowlers apart.
