Twenty members of Chichester Runners were among the line-up for the Great South Run at Southsea and the squad gave a good account of themselves.

There was an outstanding performance in the junior girls’ race on Saturday from Tara Bage, one of Chichester’s high-flying under-15 team, who overcame the high winds and difficult conditions to finish a superb second in a quality field in 8min 35sec.

The club’s first two to finish Sunday’s main race were separated by just seven seconds but such is the rate of finishers crossing the line that they were 24 places apart. Andrew Moore led the club home in 1hr 07min 20sec for 333rd place with Andy Maynard 357th in 1.07.27.

Justin Eggins was 982nd in 1.12.50 with the rest of the squad as follows: Anthony Neaves 1.13.31 (1,081st), Kenneth Cross 1.14.26 (1,274th), Callum Adams 1.15.21 (1,462nd), Ian Shaw 1.21.23 (3,133rd), Nigel McNestrie 1.19.57 (2,706th), Anneliese Shaw 1.21.23 (3,133rd), Nigel Hanlon 1.27.57 (5,387th), Philip Bevan 1.27.57 (5,581st), Harry Griffiths 1.32.35 (7,391st), Carrie-Anne Beaton 1.36.40 (9,044th), Rachel Nightingale 1.41.37 (10,935th), Lorraine Griffiths 1.41.37 (10,936th), Sandra Nemorin-Noel 1.43.24 (11,511st), Emma Webster 1.43.29 (11,550th), Beth Power 1.44.15 (11,801st), Guy Osborne 1.55.06 (14,499th), Sarah Adams 2.09.38 (16,152nd).
