A RECORD number of more than 700 runners competed across eight races last Saturday at Goodwood in one of the best day’s racing ever seen on the picturesque Downland course.
With five counties sending teams for the second match of the Hampshire League season, a total of 30 clubs were represented, including a strong Guernsey Island team who flew over especially and were rewarded with a race win and a runner-up.
The star of the day came in the senior women’s race where Emilia Gorecka from Aldershot finished half a minute ahead of the rest. In the men’s race Adam Clarke repeated his victory of the Sussex League and led his Aldershot team to a clean sweep with the first five positions.
