Chichester Hockey Club’s third team moved to the top of the league after a convincing 9-2 victory against Trojans.

They dominated early possession and took a three-goal lead with some well-taken strikes from Moon.

Chichester created numerous chances thanks to great passing hockey from the midfield of Richardson, Clark and Troy. Trojans came back into it with two goals after a couple of lapses in the usually-strong Chichester defence.

The response from Chichester was a goal from Sowden to make it 4-2 at the interval.

Chichester’s dominance continued in the second half as the Trojans team tired. This helped Moon, O’Boyle and Woodruff to provide Sowden with chances to complete his hat-trick with two good strikes.

Chichester made it 9-2 with goals from Woodruff and two more for Moon. Trojans rallied but were thwarted by great saves from goalkeeper Hetherington and s good tackles from the defence of Pacey, Gleeson, Hagell and Hamill.

Chichester almost made it ten but a Woodruff goal was ruled out .
