Ryan Darwen continues to shine on the national table-tennis scene.

The Bognor youngster qualified for the national finals at Preston to play doubles and singles.

The 12-year-old, ranked 29th in England for his age group, really enjoyed his best finals to date. He qualified through the group stages on the way beating the England No13-ranked player Kai Ghazi-Timms 3-0.

In the knockout rounds had to face the England under-13 No2 Amiral Hussain. Darwen lost 3-0 but is showing great potential and had some great rallies and great quality.

Dad John said: “We continue to try get Ryan best coaching we can. Ryan is currently 29th in England but will go up the rankings when the next list is out.”

The day after he returned from Preston, he had a schools event and has also represented Sussex at an event in Southampton and been to Fareham for a national cadet league event.

Darwen, whose main coach is the well-respected Charlie Childs, needs sponsorship to help with kit, coaching and travelling costs. If you can help, please email admin@gen2tt.com
