Three members of Chichester Westgate Triathlon Club ran in the European Sprint Duathlon Championships in Horst, Holland.
Jake Pillans, Sam Pillans and Harry Pink, all 15, were taking part in their first international event competing against boys much their senior in the under-20s age group.
With 250 competitors from all age groups at the start, the boys started on a 5k run through some fast, tight corners, going into the first corner together.
Sam Pillans was first on to the bike course before the boys started to space out on the flat course around the town centre.
Pink pulled away on the second run to cross the line in bronze place, with a time of 1hr 4min 20sec, before Sam and Jake came shortly after in fourth and fifth, in 1.06.06 and 1.08.39 respectively.
All three boys finished in the top 25 per cent overall, which sets them up well for the European Triathlon Championships in Turkey and the worlds in London later this year.
