MORE than £3,000 was raised at the amateur boxing evening run by Bognor Rotary Club at Butlin’s.

The event is held each November to raise funds for Bognor Amateur Boxing Club.

After a black-tie dinner, the audience were treated to 14 bouts sponsored by local companies, as reported in the Observer.

Rotary club president Peter Stemp said: “This event has been held in the town for more than 30 and is used by many local businesses to mark the start of their Christmas activities. We are grateful for the continuing support these companies give us.”

Dave Larner, chief coach of the boxing club, said the evening was keenly anticipated each year by his boxers and he felt this year’s bouts had been of a particularly high standard.
