Larbeys rallying round to make an impression in New Forest race

RALLYING father and son Stuart and Simon Larbey have been invited to take their iconic ex-works MG Metro 6r4 out on behalf of the Children’s Trust charity at this year’s Rallye Sunseeker.

The local pair will compete at the prestigious international event in Dorset and the New Forest for a 12th time, going up against the UK’s top rally teams.

The event hasn’t always been the most successful event for the pair.

In 2002 Stuart rolled the car several times at 90mph in the forest, breaking 44 out of 46 panels on the car. The accident was the biggest of Stuart’s career as he was taken to hospital under police escort at ten mph with suspected spinal injuries.

Thankfully, eight x-rays later, he was released with just cuts and bruises. More recently the team have failed to finish following mechanical problems – so this time they are itching to finish the event in style.

For one of the UK’s biggest rallys, fans are expected to flock to the forest to watch the top UK contenders compete off-road through Ringwood and Wareham.

The Larbeys have been asked to sport the Children’s Trust logo as part of their vehicle livery to raise awareness of the charity.

The Children’s Trust, based in Tadworth, provides care, education, therapy and rehabilitation to children with multiple disabilities, complex health needs and acquired brain injury.

Stuart said: “We’re delighted to support such a worthy cause and hope we can help generate further money for the charity. We’re excited to be back and look forward to a bit of sideways action and adrenaline.”

You can watch the International Rallye Sunseeker from February 24. Tickets and further information are available at www.rallyesunseeker.co.uk
