Bankable can be an asset for Moore at Glorious Goodwood
Trainer Gary Moore is aiming for totesport Mile success with Bankable and Kavachi after the weights were revealed today for the prestigious £150,000 heritage handicap, run on the fourth day of Glorious Goodwood on Friday, July 31.
Bankable (10st 1lb) tops the weights for the 63 entries and boasts some decent form at Goodwood, having landed the Listed On The House Stakes over a mile in May last year. The five-year-old was also second in both the Group Two totesport.com Celebration Mile in August and the 10-furlong Group Three Select Racing UK On Sky 432 Select Stakes the following month for former handler Luca Cumani.
He enjoyed an international campaign over the winter for trainer Mike de Kock, including a handicap victory on the turf of Nad Al Sheba in February as well as coming fifth in the Group One Dubai Duty Free at the same course a month later.
Bankable joined Moore's yard after taking third in the Group One Singapore International Cup at Kranji on May 17 and is currently rated a 10/1 chance for the totesport Mile by the race spon sor.
Moore revealed: "Bankable is a possibility for the totesport Mile. He came to us about 10 days after he ran in Singapore and he's settled in at the yard - it took a long time but he's fine now.
"He's been given 10st 1lb so maybe we will have to put an apprentice on him, although that's not something I usually do with my horses. He's got some very good form at Goodwood so we thought that we would give him an entry and decide whether he runs or not nearer the time. "
Moore's other contender in the totesport Mile is Kavachi (8st 5lb), who is all set to take his chance at Goodwood after enduring a luckless run in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot on June 17, in which he came ninth after getting caught up in the starting stalls.
The six-year-old gelding, a 20/1 shot with the race sponsor, had previously taken the spoils on a competitive nine-furlong handicap at York and was successful over the totesport Mile course and distance in August, 2006.
Moore continued: "Kavachi has been trained for the race and the form of his York victory is starting to work out quite well. We would need a few horses to come out for him to run but he's got a lovely racing weight (8st 5lb).
"He was very unlucky in the Royal Hunt Cup because he had his feet on top of the gates when they opened - he's a horse that has to go in last - and he still ran a great race to finish where he did.

"The plan was to go straight to the Royal Hunt Cup and then on to Goodwood but we knew that he wouldn't get in the race at Royal Ascot on his previous mark. We ran him at Sandown but he didn't win, so we had to run him at York to get a penalty, which didn't give us much time before the Royal Hunt Cup.
"If there had been another week between the two races, then he would have been a lot closer at Ascot, but we needed to ensure he got into the race and winning at York was some consolation."

Roaring Forte is the current 7/1 joint-favourite with Totesport after his victory in a seven-furlong Newmarket handicap on May 22. William Haggas' charge has been allotted 8st 13lb.
The other joint-favourite is the Luca Cumani-trained Acrostic, set to carry 9st, after the four-year-old arrived late to snatch a mile heritage handicap at Sandown by a head from the Mark Johnston-trained Crackdown (12/1 & 8st 8lb) on July 4.
Haggas could also saddle Alfathaa (14/1 & 9st 2lb) for owner Hamdan Al Maktoum, who has two other serious contenders in the Ed Dunlop-trained three-year-olds Fareer (12/1 & 8st 5lb) and Derbaas (14/1 & 8st 10lb). Fareer was successful in the Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot, while Derbaas was third in a competitive heritage handicap at Haydock on May 23.
Another three-year-old hoping to overcome older rivals is the Henry Cecil-trained Cloudy Start (12/1 & 9st) who is seeking a hat-trick after victories at Epsom and Kempton.
The nine-year-old Court Masterpiece is no stranger to success at Glorious Goodwood, his biggest career success coming in the Group One Sussex Stakes in 2006. John Quinn's charge has been allotted 9st 7lb and is rated a 14/1 chance after coming back from retirement with two fair efforts in defeat this season.
