The News is urging readers to select from a shortlist of six players who have shone during the past month.

In November Ben Davies received the nod, collecting an impressive 42 per cent of the vote ahead of Marc McNulty and Michael Doyle.

Unsurprisingly, all three once again feature in the latest poll.

They are joined by Gareth Evans, Caolan Lavery and Enda Stevens from the month which saw a 4-0 victory over Hartlepool and a 2-1 success at Northampton to topple them from the top of League Two.

In addition, there has been further progress in the FA Cup, a win over Accrington Stanley booking a trip to Ipswich on January 9.

Davies, who was also crowned Player of the Month for September, is once more among the frontrunners as he maintains his consistent performances.

The 34-year-old started all five Blues matches played in December, with three clean sheets recorded, and continues to impress.

Along with Stevens and Bennett, he is among only three players to have appeared in every League Two match under Paul Cook.

At left-back, Stevens has grown in stature as the season has progress and is in excellent form.

The Irishman believes he is playing his best football since arriving in England in January 2012 when he made the move to Aston Villa.

His swashbuckling attacks down the left and defensive solidity have established him as a central figure in Cook’s system.

Skipper Doyle has produced some magnificent displays of late, despite picking up an injury at Northampton.

It was feared the veteran midfielder would be out of action over the festive period, however, he has completed every minute of the subsequent two matches.

His leadership skills coupled with work-rate and ability on the ball have ensured he is key in the holding midfield area.

McNulty scored once in December, yet his all-round game continues to be impressive.

He weighed-in with assists in successive games against Accrington, Hartlepool and Northampton, with Pompey eager to keep him beyond January.

Evans scored in three matches running to take his tally to six for the campaign, with another at Leyton Orient credited as an own goal despite his involvement.

The strong-running midfielder’s willingness to defend has also been an integral part to Cook’s side.

Finally, Lavery netted against Hartlepool in another eye-catching month from the loanee.

He has been a superb recruit from Sheffield Wednesday giving a new dimension to Pompey.
