Pompey have released a statement following the shock exit of joint first-team coach Alan McLoughlin.
McLoughlin left the Blues following a meeting with manager Andy Awford before training on Thursday morning.
Officially, the 47-year-old is still employed by the club, with his contract, at present, still intact.
However, the Pompey legend has confided in friends he has departed Fratton Park in a decision which has left him shocked and hurt.
Pompey’s statement read: ‘Portsmouth Football Club have noted the recent speculation regarding the backroom staff at the club.
‘At this stage, it would be totally inappropriate to comment on the future of any individual employed by the club.
‘The board have been in discussions with Andy Awford for several weeks about the restructuring of his backroom team.
‘These discussions are ongoing and once they have been concluded, the club will make a further statement.’
