Jed Wallace is battling to be fit for what could be a potential Pompey swansong.

The in-demand 19-year-old injured his hip in the 2-2 draw at Morecambe on Saturday and was forced off after 67 minutes.

He has not trained since and is regarded as a doubt for tonight’s trip to Wycombe.

This is a crucial week in the future of Wallace, with Peterborough having a bid turned down and Wolves also showing interest ahead of the January transfer window deadline on Friday.

Regardless, Pompey will not be letting their prized asset, whose current deal expires in the summer, leave on the cheap and still have every intention of offering him a new contract.

Wallace will also not be sold to a club against his wishes – a factor which could further frustrate Peterborough.

In the meantime, there is a match at Adams Park tonight and Barker is hoping to have the young midfielder available for selection.

‘Jed’s injury situation is the only one that is different from before the Morecambe game and we are hoping to have a look at him this morning before we go,’ said Barker.

‘Sunday’s session was a cool down for the squad, there wasn’t loads for him to do but he had plenty of treatment.

‘He had more treatment yesterday to continue his recovery and we will step it up this morning if we can.

‘The lad hurt his hip joint when the goalkeeper fell on him and came off in the match when it started to stiffen up.

‘In yesterday’s training session we did everything we could for the game, but Jed was missing along with Danny (East), David (Connolly) and Simon (Ferry).’

Connolly has an Achilles problem, while Ferry is set to see a specialist over his back.
