Conor Chaplin is averaging a goal every 93min 17sec for Pompey this season.

It is a stunning strike-rate but how does the 18-year-old compare to the most prolific hitmen in the country.

We have looked at the top scorers in each of the top four divisions and only Jabo Ibehre, of Carlisle United, has a better minutes-per-goal record.

The League Two hitman, who has struck 14 goals for the Cumbrians this campaign, is finding the net once in every 90min 30sec.

Here’s how Chaplin compares to England’s leading goalscorers...

1. Jabo Ibehre (Carlisle) 90min 30sec. The Cumbrians hitman has netted 14 goals in 20 games, including six appearances from the bench, for Pompey’s League Two rivals.

2. Conor Chaplin (Pompey) 93.17. Leam Richardson knew Conor Chaplin’s strike-rate was impressive. Of his 19 appearances, 12 have been as a substitute – yet he has still netted seven goals to head the Blues’ scoring charts.

3. Riyad Mahrez (Leicester) 95.34. The Algerian has been a key component in Leicester’s rise to the summit of the Premier League. He has 14 goals in 18 appearances in all competitions.

4. Jamie Vardy (Leicester) 103.56. Like Mahrez, Jamie Vardy has been a crucial man for the Foxes and his 15 goals in 18 games have fired him into the England squad.

5. Olivier Giroud (Arsenal) 104.56. The Frenchman has scored 14 goals for the Gunners this season but his 24 games in all competitions dilute his strike-rate.

6. Romelu Lukaku (Everton) 115.38. Sixteen strikes in 21 games, all starts, makes impressive reading for the powerful Belgian.

7. Jay Simpson (Leyton Orient) 125.08. Pompey will come face-to-face with the former Arsenal hitman, who has 16 goals in 25 appearances this season.

8. Matty Taylor (Bristol Rovers) 126.51. The former North Leigh and Forest Green Rovers striker has hit the ground running in league football with 14 goals in 26 games in all competitions.

9. Ross McCormack (Fulham) 160.09. Ross McCormack struggled to get going this season as he failed to net in his first five outings. Since then, he has bagged 14 goals in 20 matches.

When compared with Pompey’s top marksmen, Chaplin’s record is equally impressive.

Marc McNulty’s stunning impact since his loan arrival from Sheffield United has seen him net five goals at an average of one every 112min 36sec.

Adam McGurk (148.30), Matt Tubbs (160.12) and Caolan Lavery (179.00) are a little further adrift.
