Yassin Moutaouakil will be handed a club fine after losing his head against Burton on Saturday.
The right-back was given a straight red card in the 84th minute after twice kicking the backside of a grounded Jimmy Phillips.
It forced Guy Whittingham’s men to endure a tense finale at the Pirelli Stadium, during which they conceded but still held on for a 2-1 victory.
Moutaouakil’s needless exit incensed many of his team-mates as well as the management.
And The News understands he will be hit in the pocket by Pompey in addition to his automatic three-match ban.
Whittingham was left fuming at the Frenchman whose sending off could have been so costly.
He said: ‘I saw two players going for the ball first of all and then you see the little flick out by Yassin.
‘It wasn’t a vicious kick, it was just a little tap of the backside but you can’t do that and it left the referee with no choice,
‘He’s fiery because he is a Frenchman but normally he keeps his discipline.
‘I wouldn’t say he is volatile, though.
‘Yassin is determined to do well.
‘He wants to be seen as the best right-back in the league – and I think he’s playing extremely well.
‘You won’t come up many better than Adam McGurk.
‘He had to change wings on Saturday because he couldn’t get past Yassin.
‘But you are disappointed because he has put the team under pressure we didn’t need in the last 10 minutes.
‘Yassin is going to be missed while he is suspended but there is now the opportunity for someone to come in and do well.’
