Steve Cotterill refused to round on Erik Huseklepp and Jamie Ashdown after their errors helped Peterborough to a 3-2 victory last night.
It was Huseklepp’s last-gasp own goal which settled the Fratton Park contest.
The result was harsh on Pompey, who dominated the second half and looked the most likely to claim the points.
Earlier, Ashdown gifted Posh a fourth-minute lead when he allowed Lee Frecklington’s drive to squirm through his hands and into the net.
That was the first of many anxious moments delivered by the out-of-sorts keeper in the first half.
But Cotterill did not pin the blame on Huseklepp and Ashdown for their parts in the disappointing loss.
The Blues boss said: ‘I won’t blame any individuals. It is very difficult to do anything about an individual error. That’s what happens, we are human.
‘We had Jamie who was good on Saturday and made two great saves. Then we have Erik who scores the winner.
‘Suddenly, three days later, Jamie lets one slips through his hands and Erik scores an own goal.
‘Unfortunately, that’s football and it’s tough, but we have got to bounce back from it.
‘Everybody knows they made mistakes but we win as a team and we lose as a team.
‘There wasn’t a lot wrong with the performance. We didn’t deserve that and I am bitterly disappointed with it, really.’
