Simon Eastwood hailed Patrick Agyemang as the key to Pompey’s improved form.

The Blues keeper believes Agyemang has made all the difference to his team’s upwardly mobile fortunes.

Pompey are now one of the form sides in League One after an impressive run in March.

Eastwood pinpointed Agyemang’s presence and hold-up play as a critical reason for the marked improvement.

That has helped the keeper with the 32-year-old offering a constant outlet.

Eastwood said: ‘Patrick is unbelievable up there.

‘He keeps the ball up there for us and holds it up so well.

‘It’s not coming back and he has made a massive difference for us.

‘I can kick to him and I know he can keep hold of it.

‘That has definitely been one of the key factors for us.’

Pompey have lost two of their last nine games as they head into the busy Easter period.

Eastwood believes the team have showed their strength of character to put the off-the-field problems to one side and focus on football.

The 23-year-old feels the team and it’s confidence is a world away from what it was earlier in the campaign.

He said: ‘The lads are fighting for each other and that is always a good sign.

‘The lads who are here want to work for each other and give it their all every week.

‘We all know the situation with month-to-month contracts.

‘It’s not great but we can only get on with it.

‘It’s not nice not knowing where you will be but the lads have got on with it.

‘The back four looks stronger now. We do all over.

‘The players Guy (Whittingham) has brought in look good and we are a completely different team to the start of the season.’
