Bognor are two points clear in the Ryman premier after goals by Gary Charman and Sami El-Abd earned them a 2-2 draw away to third-placed Needham Market.

The Rocks led 1-0 and 2-1 but were pegged back by their Suffolk hosts, with all the goals before the interval, and Havant closed the gap on them in pole position by beating Merstham.

In the Southern Combination premier, Chichester’s hopes of overhauling Shoreham to go top were dashed as the Mussels won 3-0 at Oaklands Park. One of their goals came from Kieron Pamment, signed from Pagham a couple of days ago.

But there was an upturn in fortunes for Pagham, who came from behind to win 3-1 at Lancing thanks to goals by Callum Overton, Ryan Cox and Matt Ryan.

In division one Selsey and Midhurst both had hat-trick heroes in big away wins. Selsey won 4-0 at AFC Varndeanians with Ryan Morey’s treble and a Howard Low goal, while Gary Norgate got four for Midhurst and Liam Dreckman one in a 5-0 romp at Steyning.

Bosham strengthened their position at the top of SCFL division two with a 4-0 stroll against Worthing Leisure. Louis Bell, Graeme Dowden, Marco Giambelardini and Bradley Miles were on target.

But Sidlesham suffered a surprise 3-2 defeat at Lancing. Tom Bayley netted both Sids’ goals.

In the West Sussex League premier division Nyetimber Pirates drew 1-1 with TD Shipley but second-placed Lavant lost 3-2 at Hunston Community Club.

In the Championship south, East Dean won 3-0 away to Newtown Villa Reserves.
