For the first 20 minutes the University of Chichester were the only side in their West Sussex League premier division game and Sidlesham could not find their usual passing game.
The Uni kept the Sids on their toes and Sids keeper Simon Keen made two or three excellent saves to deny them.
And when he was beaten, defender Andy Carragher made a last-ditch tackle to keep it goalless.
Sidlesham settled and a good through-ball from Brad Miles enabled Dan Bassil to round the keeper for the first goal on 32 minutes.
A hip injury to Brad Derry forced a Sids substitution, Andy Rawlins coming on.
In the second half a sliced clearance by Keen saw the ball drop to the Uni wide man, who lobbed the ball over the keeperto make it 1-1.
On 50 minutes Miles picked up the ball in his own half, ran on and, from 35 yards, drove in a superb shot which left the Uni keeper rooted to the spot.
An injury to Andy Hounsome saw Jay Whitmore come on.
Paul Barnes was replaced by Tom Bayley and it proved the turning point.
On 73 minutes a ball over the top was superbly dispatched by Bayley and five minutes later Bayley forced himself into the box and placed the ball between the keeper’s legs for a 4-1 lead.
Sids goalkeeper Keen was forced into a tackle well outside his area and was lucky to escape with a yellow card.

Wittering Utd 4 Fittleworth 1
Division two south
The game started at a frenetic pace and Wittering were under intense pressure.
James Kewell and Tom Jefkins started to boss the midfield and Kewell’s fine effort from 18 yards resulted in a penalty to Wittering as, with the ball heading to the top corner, a Fittleworth player dived and tipped it over the bar.
There was no card for the player but captain Barry McCoy calmly fired the Reds ahead.
Tom Kelly and top scorer Darran Cox went close but the hosts couldn’t add to the score before the break.
The Reds extended their lead when a free-kick from Alan Sheppard found its way to McCoy 18 yards from goal.
McCoy controlled the ball, turned and fired it past the keeper for his 16th goal of the season – very good for a centre-half.
Wittering introduced Joe Newton and Joe Jefkins and both made an instant impact – although Jefkins was deemed to have pushed a Fittleworth player in the box and a penalty was given and despatched past Rochester.
Joe Jefkins made amends for his error when he was sent clear by brother Tom down the right and crossed low and hard for the impressive Kelly to sidefoot home.
The game was finally put to bed when Joe Newton fired home from ten yards after good work by Darran Cox – Newton’s fourth of the season in only his 8th appearance.
It was a solid performance by the Reds as they extended their winning streak to 17.
Wittering man of the match was Kelly.
WITTERING: Rochester, Kennard, Cairns, Lartey, McCoy, Sheppard, T Jefkins, Kewell, Oakes, D Cox, Kelly. Subs: B Cox, J Jefkins, Newton, Smith.
