Bognor’s Sussex Senior Cup clash with Horsham YMCA at Lancing was called off less than half an hour before it was due to start after torrential rain left the pitch unplayable.
Downpours swept across West Sussex during the afternoon and evening and it was too much for the playing surface at Culver Road, and the officials had little choice in abandoning hopes of getting the game on when they inspected around 7.20pm.
Staff from both clubs seemed in full agreement with the decision, but it’s a frustration for two teams who still have plenty of league fixtures to cram in and will now need to find a vacant date for this semi-final to be rearranged.
Peacehaven await in the final at the Amex - although with that not scheduled until Sunday, May 18, it seems sensible to leave the semi-final until after the sides’ league seasons have finished.
Bognor are next in action on Thursday night in a league game at Grays.
