In the only game in the entire West Sussex League to beat the weather, Wheatsheaf stretched their lead at the top of division five south with an amazing 8-4 win at Lodsworth.
They started brightly ,creating a number of chances before Michael Woolston scored to put them into the lead.
In total control, wheatsheaf went further ahead when Scott Adams continued his goalscoring run, Jay Golds chipped the keeper from distance and Matt Parker scored a from a move straight off the training ground to make the score 4-0 at half-time.
Wheatsheaf began the second half in a sloppy manner and despite scoring a fifth through Andy Boxall, the control they had in the first half was lacking.
A disappointing spell resulted in Lodsworth pulling two back before Parker made the score 6-2. The game looked won but Lodsworth kept coming forward.
They soon made the scoreline 6-3 and with the game very open, Woolston who scored a fine lob to take his tally to 40 goals so far this season.
Lodsworth were not finished and scored again - before man of the match Boxall grabbed his second to end the thriller 8-4.
