Pagham Youth were winners - but Barnham and Bosham weren’t so fortunate - in the latest round of under-18 games in West Sussex.
Barnham Youth 1 Pagham Youth 2
High-flying Pagham came to Barnham having won the sides’ first meeting of the season and from the start pressed the home side back.
Barnham kept their shape but a full-blooded shot from outside the area flew into the top corner, giving keeper Joe Dubben little chance.
The second half saw Barnham increasing in confidence and starting to threaten the Pagham goal with shots from Markie Gilbert and Johnny James just going wide.
Ben Perkins and winger Marcus Taylor began to exploit gaps on the Pagham right but their efforts didn’t lead to an equaliser.
But Barnham got their reward when Rory Walsh chipped the ball over the Pagham defence to Pete Dearden who struck a rasping shot that keeper parried to the feet of Marcus Taylor, who drilled the ball in.
Pagham were holding on but against the run of play a Pagham free-kick dropped into the Barnham box resulting in a goalmouth scramble and a deflection saw the ball cross the Barnham goal-line for the winner.

Bosham had a bright start and got the ball forward quickly.
Phil Merrick, enjoying a front role, had a couple of chances that were saved by the Rustington keeper. Rustington produced chances of their own and skipper Callum Fewell had to make a fine save with his feet to prevent them taking the lead.
After 28 minutes Bosham conceded a free-kick 25 yards out. The ball was curled towards the Bosham goal and a Rustington forward got the slightest of touches that squeezed past Fewell.
It was vital for Bosham to get an early second-half goal but 15 minutes in, Rustington got their second following a corner from the right that saw a soft shot go through a number of legs and in.
A few minutes later Bosham failed to clear a high ball into the area and Rustington popped in their third.
