Pagham are told: The pressure is on you

The pressure is on Pagham as they head into Saturday's mouth-watering SCFL Premier Division encounter with leaders Shoreham at Nyetimber Lane.

So says Shoreham boss Bryan O’Toole after back-to-back league defeats for Lions saw them fall eight points off leaders Mussels and drop to third position.

Many tipped Mark Bennett’s team to be up there come the end of the season but a poor recent run has left them off the pace.

Should Shoreham come away with all three points on Saturday, an 11-point gap would be opened, with O’Toole feeling the pressure is on Pagham.

He said: “It’s going to be a really tough game, we know that.

“Pagham have lost their past two matches and they aren’t going to roll over for us on Saturday.

“If someone was to offer me a point now I’d take it but I believe we can win the game.

“If we play to the potential that this team has, I see no reason why we can’t come away with all three points – but this is not an easy place to go and do that.”

Pagham’s second league defeat in succession came with a 4-2 beating at AFC Uckfield Town on Saturday.

Kieron Pamment and Ryan Morey both struck to claw Lions back in it on two occasions, only for efforts from Ryan Cooper, coupled with a James Feist strike, in the final 17 minutes sealed victory for the home side.
