Midhurst up and running - Sids have new sole boss

At last Midhurst collected three points when they beat Rustington 1-0 at Rotherfield - and gave a much better display than in their opening few games.

Player-manager Gary Norgate expressed his satisfaction at the effort put in by the whole side and noted that the goals against column was showing signs of improvement.

Two days earlier, Midhurst had visited Oakwood and were defeated 3-0 - their fifth defeat in a row.

One problem Midhurst have at present is the availability of players is not good, and until the management can put out their best squad, collecting more points may be difficult.

On Saturday, the defence were much better at clearing their lines and the whole team looked more confident.

Patrick Cowell in goal had more than enough to do to keep his slate clean and his defenders player their part.

Norgate gave a good display in midfield and Luke Sheldrick worked hard in the forward line, scoring the only goal.

Rustington had a strong midfield and Midhurst needed to work hard to prevent goals.

On Saturday Haywards Heath visit Rotherfield for a division-two fixture (3pm).

TED DUMMER

Sidlesham have had a change of manager. Malcolm Harwood has left and Tom Evans, who was joint manager, has taken over on a solo basis but with Jimmy Brown as his assistant.

Sids had no game on Saturday but return to action this weekend when they host Peacehaven in the Sussex Intermediate Cup.
