CHICHESTER CITY Ladies finished their season with a 2-0 away win to Swindon Town.

Other teams in their league haven’t finished yet, so they’re waiting to discover their final league position.

City reserves finished the season with a 2-0 win away to Haywards Heath, with both goals from Lauren Ellis.

With the championship already won, Chichester were keen to finish with another victory.

They were immediately on the front foot with Hannah Chalk causing problems down Chichester’s left. Linking with Zoe Hughes-Jones, Chalk played a fantastic ball into the box which was met by a strong header into the back of the net by Ellis after seven minutes.

Chichester continued to control the game and Ellis was put through on goal only for her to scuff her effort for an easy save for the keeper. Defender Annie Richardson went close from a corner.

Jess Harnett came on at half-time and her first pass put Chalk through and her right-footed effort went just wide.

A good run down Chichester’s right by Remi Crawley ended with her cross flicked on by Sian Payne for Ellis to make it 2-0.

Payne thought she had scored, only to see a dubious offside flag go up.

Chichester continued to be solid at the back and Chalk had another opportunity that just missed the target.

Ellis missed a chance for her hat-trick, although she has finished as top scorer.

Heath broke through but Nea Piiroinen in the Chichester goal was alert to the danger and raced out of her box to clear.

A nasty injury to Georgia Selby meant she was replaced by Gabi Fisher for the closing stages.
