After losing at home to leaders Shoreham, boss Miles Rutherford was looking for a response from his team – and got it.

Chi welcomed back Dan Hegarty to the starting line-up while midfielder Lorenzo Dolcetti started again.

Also back was Ruben French, who was Chichester captain last season and has returned to Oaklands Park from Pagham.

Ant Ender was back in goal for City, who were missing Josh Clack and Ellis Martin.

Chi started well and had plenty of the ball. They created lots of chances early on and dominated throughout.

Jamie Horncastle headed them into a 1-0 half-time lead.

Dolcetti was the star player – he scored a spectacular free-kick from 20 yards and narrowly missed a chance with an acrobatic strike.

Omar Barry came on and scored City’s third but they allowed Heath to get one back late in the game through Dean Wright.

Rutherford said: “It was important for us to bounce back after last Saturday.

“We played well and controlled the game throughout. It was important for us to have Dan Hegarty back in the team and he showed what we missed last week.”

City coach Danny Potter added: “It was good for us to get the three points and play well. Lorenzo was outstanding and we are loving having him at the club.”

Chi host AFC Uckfield Town at Oaklands Park this Saturday.
