Arun Crematorium has been developed by Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 39 sites across England, Scotland and Wales. All are set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance, which provide pleasant, peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.

The new crematorium will enable West Sussex families to receive the exceptional care and support that Westerleigh Group is renowned for.

At the heart of Arun Crematorium is a light, airy and welcoming contemporary chapel, capable of seating 112 people, with additional standing room. There are 120 parking spaces, including six allocated for disabled access.

Westerleigh Group helps the bereaved to create uniquely personal services and memorials to their loved ones, with access to an almost unlimited choice of music and high-resolution screens which can be used for slideshows, photographs and to display appropriate written words.

In addition, the chapel’s portable catafalque, which supports the coffin, offers families an option to select its exact location in the chapel and provide more flexibility during the service.

The chapel’s size and décor provide an intimate environment for smaller gatherings, seeking privacy and seclusion, while larger congregations benefit from its overall seating capacity, further enhanced by additional standing space.

The support Arun Crematorium provides to the bereaved does not stop at the end of the cremation service.

Like all Westerleigh Group crematoria, Arun offers a wide variety of memorialisation options, to help people honour and remember their loved ones for years to come. These options include UK-sourced Staffordshire brick desk tablets, the Mulberry tree made from corten steel, ash scattering in the grounds, special memorial jewellery, personalisation and many other options.

Helping you to remember a loved one

From now until October 15, anyone buying a memorial will also be helping Dementia UK – at no cost to themselves. Dementia UK is Westerleigh Group’s corporate charity partner for 2023, and for every memorial purchased before October 15, Westerleigh Group will make a donation to the charity.

To mark the opening, anyone who purchases a memorial at Arun Crematorium before December 31 will also receive a 10% discount.

Arun Crematorium Manager Adam Westwood said: “If a family has been holding on to the ashes of a loved one, having not decided what to do with them, now is the fitting time to talk to my team to find out what memorialisation might be best and benefit from the opening offer.”

Adam added: “This is one of the most modern crematoriums in the country, with a focus on the eco-side, from ultra-low emissions to wildlife grounds, where we can have beehives and wildlife ponds.

“I want Arun Crematorium to be a hub of the community and I am looking forward to helping Arun to provide a very positive presence in the area and to meeting and getting to know our neighbours.”
