A YEAR after the building was devasted by a blaze, business is booming at the Shoreham Centre.
Fire tore through the main Harper Hall at the centre, in Pond Road, Shoreham, in October, 2007.
The blaze was believed to have started after rainwater poured into the building – after lead was stolen from the roof – and came into contact with electrics.
Now, manager Kelly Hagan and assistant Karlie Davis are delighted to announce the centre has bounced back to being busier than ever before.
Kelly said: "We are looking forward to a very full calendar running up to Christmas, and an even busier 2009 – with four weddings booked in already."
Future eventsIndoor "car boot" sales will now be held at the centre every Sunday, with tables priced £8 each and people welcome to turn up from 8.30am onwards.
Events coming up include a Hallowe'en fancy dress party and disco, on Friday, October 31.
Entry will cost £5 on the door and prizes will be on offer for the best costumes.
An antiques and craft fair will be held on Saturday, November 8, with stalls costing £12 each. Items on offer to visitors will include antiques, furniture, jewellery, china and home-made crafts.
Saturday, December 20, will see the centre host a bumper Christmas fayre, ideal for people looking for last-minute festive bargains.
Stalls cost £12. The centre's final event of 2008 will be a New Year's Eve dance on December 31, with music, a raffle and dancing into the new year.
DancesAs well as marking the big occasions, the Shoreham Centre hosts many regular events.
Monthly dances include Soul 'n' Motown nights, discos featuring music from the '60s, '70s and '80s, singles nights and more, as Kelly explained.
"Our weekly Wednesday market is thriving and busier than ever," Kelly said.
"Please support us and come along for great bargains, as well as fresh produce and a butcher.
"Please pop in and pick up a 'what's on' sheet for lots, lots more.
"We are open seven days every week and have something going on for all age groups.
"We would like to thank our customers and friends for all their support and kind thoughts. We hope to see you very soon."
In the new year, Adur Theatre Company is looking forward to returning to its home stage with its annual pantomime – Panto of the Opera – at the end of January.
