Lifeboat called to reports of man threatening to jump off Worthing Pier

SHOREHAM lifeboat launched in a gale force eight wind and rain to reports of a man threatening to jump off Worthing Pier.
However, as the boat got half way to Worthing – just after 8pm on Tuesday (August 12) – the man was persuaded to hand himself to the police and the lifeboat was stood down to return to station.
