STUDENTS at King's Manor Community College's sixth-form exceeded expectations with their impressive set of A level results.
Click on the green play button to see a slide show of photographs taken of students celebrating their A level success at schools and colleges including King's Manor.

The school's head of sixth form, Brett Widdows, set the target for A level passes at 96 per cent, and 55 per cent for passes graded A to C.

But when results were published, Mr Widdows found students had achieved an overall pass rate of 99.1 per cent and 55 per cent of those at grade A to C.

The figures were not only better than this year's targets, but also than last year's, when the school recorded a pass rate of 95 per cent, with 49.6 per cent of grades being A to C.

Mr Widdows told the Herald: "Overall, it's a better performance than we hoped for. We're obviously delighted.

"These figures show a marked improvement on last year, with the average points score per student increasing by the equivalent of one whole grade."

Mr Widdows added he was proud of all the students and attributed their achievements to their hard work and the support of the school's teachers.

Cream of the crop at King's Manor was Liam Whitton, who achieved the three A grades he needed to study English at Balliol College, Oxford, whose former students include novelist Nevil Shute.
