FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze in an artist's studio in Shoreham this morning (Thursday, August 14).
Smoke was pouring from one of the studios in the Old Customs House in Brighton Road at 8.30am.
They discovered a fire inside a kiln. Fire crews were breathing apparatus put out the smoke and flames. There was some smoke damage to the studio. No one was hurt.
Police shut the Brighton Road with the junction of Kingston Lane up to Albion Street for more than two hours causing traffic chaos.
The Old Customs House, which was formerly a Scout hut, has recently became the new home of the Tarmount Studios which was based in Tarmount Lane, Shoreham.
